The wing is repaired!

It was great to pump up the 6.0 Echo wing that I got back from Lenka’s repair shop on Friday. The repair work is first rate!

And I’m already feeling much more confident tacking upwind and getting going. That wing is great for me since the “boom” allows me to use harness lines easily. My shoulder was fine after a full hour of winging.

I GOT MY FIRST FULLY ON THE FOIL WING JIBE! Such a neat sensation not hearing the board touch down in the jibe. Of course I could only go 50 meters switch stance and touched down when switching my feet but wow.

I’m also experimenting with which way to turn the wing when jibing. I’m guessing one is a duck and one is a regular jibe. Need to think that through as I watch this video over and over.

Jen also got a nice video of me pumping as I’m coming in at the end of my 14.7 km wing session.

After doing a few hours of work on pipes and stuff under the Launch Pad, I headed out again. The wind was still showing 12 knots and this time I took the 7.0 NP V6 on the Stingray with the 99 cm foil. I wore my 2 mil short sleeve wetsuit for the first time. It was fine till I fell in twice around the 44 minute mark. I knew it was time to go in then.

Even with that big sail my foil jibes are getting better. I still don’t go very fast, but I’m loving how comfortable I am on the board, even without footstraps. 13.5 kms in 47 minutes

A nice photo of the day on my way back to the dock - fun to see the little trail from my foil curving through the water.

Quick tally of the year so far - 26 days on ice and then water in the first 5 months. Let’s see if my goal of 100 days is realistic?
