4 years ago when I started wingfoiling the idea of tacking upwind while on the foil seemed impossible. Today I was making all of my toeside tacks and so getting upwind was relatively easy.

| On my way to a toeside tack |
I was in 16c wind and 15c water with my 5m Duotone Slick and 1500 foil under the Sky 125 board. The wind was 15-18 knots from the south with a distinct smoky smell to it from the fires out west.
But once I got upwind I realized that DOH! I forgot my life jacket. So I foiled back downwind to get it. I decided that rather than redo my upwind from the start of the session, I would go downwind and out the channel north of the Launch Pad island.
I can’t believe I’ve never tried that before. I actually stayed on the foil through the wind shadows and made it out past the lighthouse and old Aalto fish camp and over to Germain Island and then worked my way all the way up to Chris the builder’s place - Diamond Key.

Pretty good tracks. The foiling run along the north side was a first |
The downwind jibe legs are soooo satisfying. I also nailed 5 360s in a row by the old piers. Only got one foiling heelside tack though. I hit 15 knots and did 14km in the hour, another PB since my surgery in November.

| And the Launch Pad garage is the wet part… |
The concrete in the foundation is drying overnight and tomorrow should see the first walls being laid out for the building. Very exciting.
