Necessary but not sufficient

The Civic holiday Monday was busy. Our guests began departing, then it was off to a terrific local art show, then over to an adjacent island to douse the remnants of a fire that flared up after some campers left.

Fire on the island next to us the day before.
Thankfully some neighbours got there quickly and put it out!
And my wife soaking the roots where the fire was.
I did finally get a quick foil run in which was great to help clear my head. I hadn't realized how much the fire pump brought back memories of Vanessa and my 48 hours battling the early stages of PS 33 last year.

Two of my longest and most consistent runs - the first one was 2 km on the foil!
A short but very necessary session. Planing 47% of the time!
Some good up and downwind angles on my long run!
Then Adam came over to get an introduction lesson. It was quite windy so the 3.5 beginner sail was the call on the simulator and the Viper 80. I think his father Rich was also getting interested in windsurfing again after trying the simulator. Maybe I'll have some more company out on the water this fall?

My late afternoon session was OK. Not as much wind, so it was an effort to get going (see heart rate at the beginning of each fast planing section.

The later session, not as much wind, but still some planing runs
and then at total of 1 hour on the water. Which wasn't quite sufficient.
The later session with more tracks but not quite as much planing
Maybe the best part of this later session was seeing my friend Scott on his Dart catamaran. The sailboat has a much more consistent speed than the on plane and then off slogging of being on a foil. Sitting looks more relaxing too!
