Boat parade and windy.com

I've been relying on Windy.com for my wind reports. The option to select the "compare forecasts" lets you see 4 different computer models. Sure enough, there wasn't a lick of wind on Saturday. Which was perfect for our boat parade. We dressed up like lumberjacks and headed out in the calm evening waters and to be part of the small and very fun community event. Once out in the harbour, the boats congregated to watch fireworks, in the exact spot where I usually begin most of my windsurfing sessions.

Back to Windy.com - I'm finding that NAM is the most reliable for our area. Here was the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

windy.com predictions for Saturday and Sunday

On Sunday as predicted it took till late in the day until we saw 15 knot gusts. (Also the high for the month - as it was Aug 2nd.)

I headed out for a rainy north wind session. I was on the Stingray 140 with the 76 cm Slingshot foil and 5.6 Idol. It was gusty from the NW, 19c but the rain made it feel colder in my shorty. At least the water felt nice and warm on my legs.

It was definitely pump to get planing wind, as my heart rate shows on the chart below. I got one of my two downwind 360 attempts, but there wasn't enough wind to actually get a full run, let alone carve through a jibe. Here is the map.

View from the North, headed out to find the gusty wind.

7.2 km in just over an hour.

Worth it to get out there for sure, but looking forward to when windy.com predicts another nice warm SW wind day.
