It was great to have a free day in Collingwood line up with a warmish northwest wind on Georgian Bay.
I packed up the car and checked out Northwinds Beach, Long Point and the Harbour but decided to go launch at Sunset Point Beach.
9 jibes? 5km |
Nice day! |
The wind was steady at the Sunset Beach tempest weather Station showing 13 knots. I put the 6m Duotone Echo wing on the 1500 Duotone Sky 125 foil board.
It was nice that the water that was already much clearer than the last time I was here. It took a little bit of swimming and flailing to get out to the wind line. I was fine in my 5/4 wetsuit but likely should have worn a hood instead of the helmet.
I got up and did a bunch of jibes in a row right after starting which felt great. After a few falls my forearms were starting to hurt quite a bit even though I could ride with the harness on the way out. I decided to see how much energy it would take to swim back and so bailed on my last run and did a swim.
After that went for a stand-up paddleboard and got standing on one run which was fun. Overall a short 50 minute session and I definitely need to work on my stamina. But great to get out on an increasingly sunny day and enjoy the south end of Georgian Bay.
