3rd session on the new Fanatic 125l Sky foil board with 2000square/cm front foil and the 5.0 Slick wing. It was another gusty N/E wind. So I swam / slogged out from the dock to the pier. It took quite a while but I pumped like crazy and caught two gusts - both times when I was goofy which isn’t my normal stance. Strange?
I experimented with techniques to get the wingfoil board to go back upwind while slogging. It seems impossible to me right now - but worked a bit better with the wingtip actually in the water a bit. Something to explore. I did find that the Slick wing has one huge advantage over the Echo wing. Since the boom attaches to an inflatable strut, you can use that as a 3rd leg to stabilize yourself

The wind had definitely let off and Jen came out to check on me. We tried towing me back upwind behind the 20hp aluminum boat which worked ok. But then I decided to give it another try and wound up catching a great gust and foiled into the harbour, did a sweet jibe and made it back upwind to the point a fair bit. It was an easy swim after that.
| One nice long foil run and satisfying jibe! |
Then nice neighbour Diane came by and I got her the lesson we had discussed at the Saturday afternoon potluck. Read about that at: www.launchpadwindsurfacademy.ca/post/snowboarders-learn-windsurfing-well
