High fives!

In my amazing 2 hour session I had some time to think about what to name this post. High fives comes from the high five I gave Len as I windsurfed past him on one run. I wish I'd had a GoPro to catch that!

The other reason for high fives was our sail sizes. Len used Vanessa's 5.7 Wizard on the Freewave 116, and I used the Idol 5.6 on the trusty Skate 108. Both sails in the high five metre range. The 17-25 knot wind made our sail selection perfect for the first hour.

It felt like it would be a good session on the way out to the Bay
Len did some nice jumps which inspired me to do a few as well. I did take a moment to stop at my old launching spot and loosen my footstraps - Len was the last to use the Skate. I don't really miss rigging and re-rigging out on the rocks.

Then there was a lull where I slogged across once, and Len had several slogs. So he went in, of course just as it started picking up again. My second hour was almost as fun as the first, but I missed Len's company. Vanessa came out in the boat though and took some photos!

That seems like a few too many sail wrinkles?

All good!

Blasting through the harbour

I nailed all of my half dozen or so carve 360s. Got two or three upwind 360s in the straps. Completed several duck jibes and a ton of nice planing jibes. But my 5 duck tack attempts were all fails. The water at 20c was much warmer than the wind at 20c. I wore my new 3/2 suit which was good even if the neck is a bit tight.

Thanks Vanessa for the photo bursts

Two happy windsurfers

My longest shortboard session of the summer at just over two hours. 44.8 km. Max speed 49 km/h. At one point I checked my GPS watch and had been planing over 70% of the time! Even after some down time in the middle of the session and time to adjust my footstraps, I was planing for 56% of the two hours.

Heart rate and speed
