Wow, Sept 19 in just our short wetsuits for 3 hours! And we did everything. Key harbour saw kiting, windfoiling, windsurfing and wing foiling.

| Highlight photo! |
Steve and Brett arrived at the marina around 1pm after leaving the morning city traffic. It was a nice 20 knot west wind as we got out to the Launch Pad.

Flags up for the guests

| Gear drop at the Launch Pad point! |
We dropped off gear at the point and started getting Brett ready to kite. He missed last year so our focus was 100% on getting him out for a good session. There was solid wind and a rain squall coming through and after that Steve took a test run on the 10m and it was good.

| Biggest jump ever in Key Harbour? |

| Or this one? |
 |
| Test session complete! |
So the chicken loop was transferred to Brett and off he went. He got a bunch of good runs and was making upwind ground as the wind dropped to 15 knots. He floated back onto the island and we regrouped.

| Going 14m |
The skies cleared, the wind dropped, the 14m kite was set up and off Brett went again. He was making some nice runs and I was out windfoiling on my 5.6 Idol and Stingray 140 with the 99cm foil. Steve was wing foiling but the wind wasn’t quite enough for Brett to stay upwind.
 |
| Brett gets going again |
I foiled back to the dock, turned off the lasagna and got the aluminum boat. Brett was a star getting into the little boat and flying his kite as we headed upwind. But alas, the wind had dropped more.
 |
| Gotta like the sponsor flags! |
We all took a short break but the wind was coming back. Steve showed off for the fishing boat first.

Steve is smooth on the wing!

And a longer windfoil session

Including my best carve 360 on a windfoil? Didn't stay on the foil but felt smooth! |

Brett went out on the 14m again and it was good. Steve was back on the wing and I was on the windfoil. We all made great upwind ground and had a solid long session. When Brett was done we went downwind and checked on him as he safely self landed and I swapped the windfoil for my Skate 108. I did get going windsurfing (so it was a 3 sport day) but decided I’d rather wing with Steve.
 |
| Skate 108 session was short |
I got the Slick 5.0 wing and the Fanatic Sky 125 to the point and joined Steve playing in the flat water across the channel from the island. We were making spaghetti paths in the water. Steve did his first ever foiling tacks which inspired me to try. I didn’t foil through my tacks but did feel solid going into my first 2 attempts and didn’t fall off, just didn’t stay up on the foil. Something new to work on. Certainly the footstraps felt much more comfortable than my first attempt a few days ago.

| Switchstance works! |
 |
| Still windy! |
Nice hot water showers were followed by lasagna and Caesar salad. A quick sunset walk to the point to pick up the last gear was a perfect end to the first day of Not Really Chilly Hatteras 2022.
 |
We demolished 90% of that lasagne! (and all the salad too) |

Not much wind for tomorrow - but Wednesday looks epic...
