After Monday’s cool wingfoiling and skiing session, today I decided to switch it up and go skiing first and THEN wingfoiling.
Wingfoiling after skiing!
I did my morning ski session which with more runs closing each day - was definitely spring skiing and feeling like the end of the season…
Last runs?
View from Northwinds beach
View from Sunset point
Decent wind but more South than predicted
The view from the car at Millenium point.
Ready to launch
The wind was from the south east again but as I headed over to Sunset point, it was feeling even more offshore and gusty than it was on Monday. I decided it would be a better idea to launch from the harbour where there’s a retaining wall in case I ran into any problems and had to drift down wind. I parked at Millennium park and did a wind check. It was gusting 10 to 15 as I got the board set up and put my 6/5/4 wetsuit on. It felt like it was dropping off a bit so I rigged up the 7m Duotone Slick wing.
It was easy to walk down the rocks into pretty clean water. I got on the board and pumped away and was foiling right in the harbour where I windsurfed three years ago and boated through, but have never wing foiled here before.
Jen and Katie came and took some pictures which I didn’t know about until after. Also Brendan from the Sunset Point Foilers also came and took a little bit of video.
I did 9.5 km in 45 minutes. A bit short but the wind was building and the 7m wing was starting to become difficult to flip. I thought I should quit after having a good session with a lot of jibes and a couple of foiling tacks.
I picked up a Big Mac Value meal on the way home and was excited for another awesome multi sport day here in Collingwood!
